Nadeen had a keen interest in all things related to dogs right from her childhood, at
thirteen years old she started training the neighbours' dogs. She developed an interest in
grooming while working at a Winnipeg vet's office in 1977 and continues that interest
today. Working as a groomer, mainly part time in her home, she left the corporate field in
1993 to settle in at Ken-del Kennels as a full time groomer. An accident in 1997,
resulting in four twisted vertebrae, forced her to retire from full time grooming. Nadeen
began showing dogs in 1978, registered her kennel name, Zyan, in 1980 and continues to

|
I got
to be known very early on in my career as a groomer that could handle difficult behaviour
cases. Initially I was not aware of what exactly I was doing that was contributing to this
success. So, I began taking note of the responses of all these dogs to the techniques that
I was using. What I found was that with all temperament types & with wide ranges of
behaviour issues, from extremely fearful to extremely aggressive, the same patterns of
responses were becoming obvious. From there, I connected with local dog behaviour experts,
continued to study renowned Dog Psychology authors & have strived to apply all I've
learned in my career. I have come to believe that every dog is "groom-able"
& that every dog can get to the point where they can enjoy the process. (Yes, really!) |
